A report by
Mandy Crabtree on the North West Regional Forum Conference
2010
I attended the above conference which was held in Blackpool
at the De Vere Hotel.
This was a 3 day event Mon 8th -Wed 10th Feb 2010.
The guest speakers were the two National Directors, Anne
Williams and Scott Watkins from The Office of the National Director
for Learning Disabilities.
They talked about how "Valuing People Now" has improved people's
lives and what else needs to be done.
There were workshops to go to. I went to the Jo Jo Mind and Body
one which was all about breast cancer. Other workshops included
keeping safe, advocacy and health.
On the second day a young man talked about personalisation and
how it helped him to enjoy and have more control over his life.
On the last day we wrote questions that we wanted our Regional
Forum Reps to take to the National Forum's next meeting.
I absolutely loved the hotel, the food, the workshops and
discussions. The evenings were great and I had loads fun and met
some new friends.
